This time we would like to introduce you Martin, Junior Accountant & Implementation Support Consultant. Martin has been in ASB already for two years and he is one of them who decided to change his position during this time. Let´s read further what his story is.
How long have you been working for ASB and in what team? You changed your position/team during your employment with ASB, what was the reason?
Over 2 years in ASB; since this May in a new position. I started to work here after I had graduated from my bachelor´s studies at the Czech University of Life Sciences, subject of study: Business and economics. A friend of mine recommended ASB to me as a good starting point. I started to work in ASB as a junior accountant. At that time I already had some experiences from working during my studies (mostly entering documents). I thought that I might continue from here and I hoped I would enjoy this work.
Unfortunately, the situation was different. I actually did not like accounting. Of course, I didn't want to give it up as soon as I started, but after one year when I had already mastered the accounting system, basic accounting and communication with clients, I found out that it really wasn't “my cup of tea”. Therefore, I decided to quit and started to look for a new job. It was at the time when the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown began. At the end of the notice period, I got an offer to work in the newly established Process & Project Management team. Already before I partially cooperated with the team leader, Andrea Jonáková. At that time, a part of my work was the support of the Pohoda accounting software, FormStudio (similar to EPO - financial forms) and DocuX. That is why I liked the idea of a smooth transition within the company and starting to work full time in this activity. I have been working for four months in this position and I really enjoy it. I found myself more helpful here compared to accounting, I simply like to help people – I support the system functionality and train newcomers. My current responsibility suits me well. My position has no fixed barriers and keeps developing according to current needs.
Could you describe your current job and its scope of activities?
The development of the DocuX system (Document Management System) is currently being my major responsibility. Here, data from the OCR are imported and the approval system for clients, a connection to data boxes and a set of folders for electronic archiving are set up here. The system has been developed for our needs for almost two years. The completely “paperless office”, which is a current trend, is our goal. Ultimately, any received invoice should be uploaded to the system and its data should be processed automatically. This allows for consequent handling of these documents even by a person, who knows nothing or very little about accounting.
What is the biggest challenge for you in this position?
The migration of all clients from Attolon (an approval system) to DocuX, the never-ending update of contacts, setting up the circulation of documents and approval processes with clients and their education in the new DocuX are the major current challenges. The first months after the DocuX introduction have been more difficult both for us and for clients because the software has to be adapted to their needs first. Well, actually the biggest challenge has been to persuade our internal accounting teams members that DocuX is the way to make the workflow and their administration easier.
What is the cooperation with other teams within the common clients?
My role consists of supporting our staff (Corporate Services, Accounting, Tax) as an internal team and supporting clients, who have been migrated to DocuX.
What do you like or dislike in your work?
At the moment, I am absolutely happy but I can say that before, when I worked in the accounting team, accounting of advance payments was my least favourite activity.
What, in your opinion, is a difference between ASB and other companies of a similar type?
Providing benefits, snacks at the workplace, teambuilding activities.
Why would you recommend ASB to any persons interested in working with us?
Generally, I believe they are real all-rounders in their field and the activities they provide to their clients are very varied. In particular, I appreciate the growth possibilities here – both in terms of career promotion and across the company.
