The Tax Information Box PLUS (DIS+) was created in 2021, and it was yet another step forward in simplifying the communication between taxpayers and tax administrators.
DIS+ provides information from personal tax accounts and public sections of electronic files maintained by the Financial Administration of the Czech Republic.
Some functionalities are brand new and save time for the taxpayers, while user friendliness in some parts of the system is rather questionable. The important thing is that the original system of the “old” Tax Information Box will no longer be working in the future. To maintain access to information, a brand-new login process and a process of granting authorisation to other persons must be launched. Current logins into the Tax Information Box or powers or attorney cannot be used. The latest development is that it is only possible to authorise specific natural persons.
Let us briefly sum up what DIS+ can do:
Login – access into DIS+ is simple, and it is possible using different modes. There is no need to fill in the registration, send it to the financial authority or wait for approval. You can log in immediately via data box, different forms of e-identity (e-ID, mobile key, banking identity) or via login data from the Financial Administration.
Authorisation of other persons – you can simply authorise another person to have access to the box and set various rights for that person, without needing to discuss it with the financial authority. The person being authorised has a unique code allocated in their DIS+; after entering the code, the rights can be set. The first authorisation must be made by an authorised representative. Removal of rights is also very prompt and has an immediate effect. The authorisation can be set at :
- full – the person can do all operations including sending a filing in the name of the taxpayer;
- administrator – the holder can administer individual users of DIS+ and allocate their own authorisations to these users;
- viewing selected data – this can be set for all taxes or any individual tax. A person with this type of authorisation cannot send any filings;
Balances on personal tax accounts – a survey can be viewed, broken down by individual taxes and financial authorities (tax liabilities and payments).
Pre-filling-in of tax returns and reports – returns and reports can be filled in directly in the application. The application will automatically fill in the information about the taxpayer and load information from previous filings. Help and consistency check are available for the forms.
Filling can be made directly from DIS+ without any further authorisation (note – you need to differentiate and actively fill in the information that the filing is made based on a power of attorney).
From DIS+, you can download the actually filed xml filing (and pdf copy) and the filing confirmation.
Notification – notifications sent to e-mail (reminder of a tax due date, end of deadline to comply with a tax administrator’s call, arrears incurred on your tax account, tax payment, notification of the collection of tax arrears).
Payments – a QR code is stored in the system which can make the payment easier.
Information about the taxpayer is available in DIS+ in a comprehensive form (basic information about the taxpayer, contact information, registered bank accounts, taxes for which the taxpayer is registered). Via DIS+ (or links to other forms), this information can be edited.
The upgraded tax information box is certainly a useful aid, and taxpayers are recommended to use it. It may serve as an irreplaceable source of prompt information or as a system for checking compliance with duties. Whether other services are used depends on the particular user’s needs. We can only hope that the Financial Administration will keep on developing the tool, gradually bringing DIS+ to the level we might expect in the 21st century. Taxpayers certainly deserve it.
