On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic approved the government's proposal to extend the postponement of the obligation for registering sales in the EET system.
The postponement concerns all four phases of EET, ie not only those who should have been obliged to start registering sales this year but also those who are already obliged to it, such as retailers. As per the proposal, the re-introduction of the obligation for companies and entrepreneurs to record sales in EET is planned on 1.1.2023.
Thus, no companies and entrepreneurs need to register them, nor the relevant authorities will control them due to this obligation. The measure is intended to free up bureaucratic burdens from companies for the current coronavirus pandemic and the associated business constraints. The total abolition of the EET, as proposed by some opposition parties, did not pass during the parliamentary meeting. The approved postponement is now going to the Senate, which will discuss it on Friday, October 29, 2020, and then it has to be signed by the President of the Czech Republic.
